Choosing your Wedding Photographer

Choosing a wedding photographer may seem like a very straight forward process and to a degree it is. Most Wedding photographers works on a referral basis, chances are you know someone who has used a particular photographer and would be happy to use the same person to capture your special day. However you may want to shop around first and this makes sense as there are a lot of very talented and uniquely skilled Wedding photographers out there.

One of the first things you need to do is ‘do your research’. Look at the works and styles of man different wedding photographers, there are many styles to choose from for example:

Most photographers have a website with a gallery of images, this should give you an idea of what style of photography they employ (Please see Wedding Photography Styles).

Your wedding day may be the most important day in the lives of yourself and your partner so choosing a photographer that you feel you can trust to do your special day justice is extremely important as they will be responsible for capturing those special moments. Wedding Photography packages will vary from very basic to visual records that will take your breath away.

A most basic package may consist of a wedding photographer providing you with a very standard set of shots, plus a CD with a pre-determined number of images that you can then get printed at your leisure. The other end of the scale are photographers that will provide you with a service that will not only provide you with a set of high quality images but make your Wedding day a memorable one that you will cherish for many years to come.

Of course price is going to be the determining factor for the kind of images and service that you decide on, you can probably spend anything between £350 & £3000 on your wedding photographer but bear in mind that cheaper is not always better and the most expensive doesn’t always mean you’ll get the highest quality service.

We advise that you get a number of quotes from say 5 or 6 wedding photographers and see what kind of package they offer. Don’t be afraid of contacting photographers and asking questions about whats important to you - remember ultimately the decision is yours.

Once you have a date for your wedding, do not hesitate to draw up and make contact with your list of Wedding Photographers as most people can book anywhere up to 2 years in advance for their wedding day. Expect most Wedding Photographers to take a deposit of anywhere between 20 – 50% and please note that these deposits are generally non-refundable, so be sure of your choice when you book.

Once you book you may be required to sign a contract for your wedding photographer, always read the small print carefully and make sure you are happy with the terms of the contract before signing.

Remember the wedding photographer is there to enhance your wedding experience not to hinder it.

This is Wedding Photography has been carefully designed to allow you find the best Wedding Photographers in your area, you can request quotes, preview their work and contact them directly.
